The new TBU high speed protector family provides protection for RS-485 interfaces

     Bourns introduces its new family of TBU-DF and TBU-DB-Q High Speed Protector (HSP) devices. This series of semiconductor protectors provides extremely fast protection (reaction time less than 1 microsecond) and accurate, easy-to-use data line protection solutions. Its ability to integrate peripheral circuits reduces the number of variables that designers must consider.

     The TBU-DF series is designed to meet the protection requirements of RS-485 interfaces. RS-485 is used for data collection and remote monitoring in new iot, factory and home automation applications as well as in process control, test and measurement equipment. The AEC-Q101-compliant TBU-DB-Q series meets the protection needs of applications such as battery detection/balancing in battery management systems (BMS).

     Bourns' new TBU-DF and TBU-DB-Q families are low-capacitance dual-way bidirectional high-speed electronic current liminator (ECL) devices in surface-mount DFN packages using MOSFET semiconductor technology. When placed in the system circuit, the integrated detection circuit is used to monitor the current. TBU provides effective protection for sensitive electronics when voltage or electrical surges occur.

     The Bourns TBU-DF and TBU-DB-Q device families are now available and comply with RoHS* as well as IEC 61000, IEC 61000-4-2, IEC 61000-4-4 and IEC 61000-4-5 standards. Bourns provides design resources such as evaluation boards so that developers can easily use and test new TBU HSP products.
