The new grid drive transformer is suitable for demanding battery management systems

TT Electronics, a global provider of engineered electronics for special applications, announced the launch of its HA42A and HA86A series of gate drive transformers for the automotive and industrial markets. These miniature surface mount design (SMD) solutions are ideal for efficient battery management system applications where size and reliability are critical.

The HA42A and HA86A gate drive transformers are used in space-constrained situations to provide control pulses while isolating the MOSFETs and the control drive circuit. Mechanical strength and lower leakage inductance significantly improve line efficiency, resulting in improved performance. The HA86A is designed with higher current capacity and lower temperature rise performance - ideal for Freescale's HV/EV battery management systems.

HA42A and HA86A are made of a toroidal ferrite material with different inductance characteristics that maintain high efficiency without affecting temperature. AEC-Q200 certification and RoHS compliance meet the performance and reliability requirements demanded by today's automotive applications.
