
SynQor's latest defense-grade isolated power regulation module - MPFICQor - is specifically designed for the demanding needs of airborne applications, such as underwing pods and munitions systems for aircraft and drones. It is now available in Europe and beyond through Astute Group, a global electronics distributor and supply chain partner.
The all-brick module delivers efficient and reliable performance even at lower power levels, making it ideal for applications with key considerations such as size, weight and power consumption. It is an essential component of an AC/DC or DC-DC power supply operating as defined by MIL-STD-704.
One of the outstanding features of this module is the extremely low total harmonic distortion (THD) at the AC input. Only 1.5% THD minimizes electrical noise and ensures compliance with defense standards, including MIL-STD-1399. This is critical in sensitive airborne environments where EMI can disrupt critical systems.
The module includes active PFC technology to achieve a near-uniform power factor greater than 0.99 at full load. This high power factor reduces reactive power, optimizes system integration, and improves overall stability and reliability.
In airborne applications, efficiency is critical, and the device offers an impressive 92% efficiency rating. This improves system performance, promotes superior thermal management, reduces heat generation and extends service life.
The module comes in industry-standard full-brick form and is designed to meet SWaP requirements. Its compact size and lightweight design make it ideal for integration into space-constrained airborne platforms.
The company emphasized its compliance with defense standards for military aircraft-COTS converters, and the MPFIC is no exception. It meets a wide range of standards, including MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1399, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, and RTCA/DO-160, ensuring its suitability for harsh airborne environments and compatibility with defense system designs.
