The performance of ST's STM32C0 series of energy-efficient microcontrollers has been significantly improved

     STM32 developers can get more storage and more functionality on the STM32C0 microcontroller (MCU), enabling more advanced functionality in resource-limited and cost-sensitive embedded applications. The STM32C071 MCU is equipped with up to 128KB of flash memory and 24KB of RAM, and also adds a USB slave device that does not require an external crystal and supports TouchGFX graphics software. On-chip USB controllers make it easy for designers to save at least one external clock and four decoupling capacitors, reducing bill of material costs and simplifying PCB component layout. In addition, the new product has only one pair of power cords, which helps simplify PCB design. New product designs can be made thinner, neater and more competitive.

     The STM32C0 MCU features an Arm® Cortex®-M0+ core that replaces traditional 8-bit or 16-bit MCUS in product devices such as home appliances, simple industrial controllers, power tools and iot devices. As an economical product in a 32-bit MCU, the STM32C0 offers increased processing performance, greater storage capacity, higher peripheral integration (suitable for functions such as user interface control), and other basic control, timing, computing, and communication functions.

     In addition, developers can accelerate STM32C0 MCU application development with the help of the powerful STM32 ecosystem. The STM32 Ecosystem offers a variety of development tools, packages, and evaluation boards. Of course, developers can also join the STM32 user community to share their experiences. Scalability is another highlight of the new product, as the STM32C0 family shares many commonalities with the higher-performing STM32G0 MCU, including the Cortex-M0+ core, peripheral IP core, compact pin arrangement and optimized I/O ratio.

     Patrick Aidoune, General Manager of ST's General Purpose MCU Sub-product Division, said: "We set up the STM32C0 family as an affordable entry point for 32-bit embedded computing applications. With larger on-chip storage capacity and USB slave device controllers, the STM32C071 series now offers developers greater design flexibility to upgrade existing applications and develop new products. In addition, the new MCU fully supports the TouchGFX GUI software, making it easier to enhance the user experience with graphics, animation, color, and touch."

     Two of STM32C071's customers, Dongguan Yizhong Display Technology (TSD) in China and Riverdi Sp in Poland, have completed their first projects with the new STM32C071 MCU. Both companies are ST authorized partners.the STM32C071 is selected to control the entire module of a 240x240 resolution knob display, including the knob's 1.28-inch circular LCD and position-coded electronic components. "This MCU is cost-effective and easy for developers to use, allowing us to offer a price-competitive, transformative product for the home appliances, smart home devices, automotive controls, beauty devices and industrial controls markets," said Roger L.J., Chief Operating Officer of Eplex Display Technology.

     Kamil Koz? owski, co-CEO of Riverdi, introduced the company's 1.54-inch LCD module, which features high definition and high brightness combined with extremely low power consumption. "The simplicity and economics of the STM32C071 allow customers to easily integrate display modules into their own projects. This module is able to connect directly to the STM32 NUCLEO-C071RB development board and leverage the powerful ecosystem to create a Touch GFX graphical demo project."
