Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the launch of a new ultra-small, ultra-low power, fully integrated proximity sensor, the VCNL36825T, to improve efficiency and performance in consumer electronics and industrial applications. The Vishay Semiconductors VCNL36825T uses a vertical cavity surface emission laser (VCSEL) that integrates a photodiode, signal processing IC, and 12-bit ADC in a small 2.0mm x 1.25mm x 0.5mm surface-mount package. The diameter of the photosensitive hole is only 1.6mm.

     Vishay IntertechNology, Inc. Optoelectronics Products has launched a new type of ultra-small, ultra-low power consumption, close to the sensor-VCNL36825T to improve the efficiency and performance of consumer electronics and industrial application. Vishay Semiconductors VCNL36825T uses vertical cavity to transmit lasers (VCSEL), and integrates photoelectric diode, signal processing IC and 12 ADC in 2.0 mm x 1.25 mm x 0.5 mm small surface packaging, and the diameter of the sensing holes is only 1.6 mm.


     Compared with the previous generation device, the volume of the newly released sensor is reduced by 76 %. The lighting of the light sensation and increased the design flexibility and reducing costs. Exquisite VCNL36825T is suitable for battery power applications with limited space, such as detecting whether users wear real wireless stereo (TWS) headphones, or virtual reality / enhanced reality (VR / AR) helmets. The device detection distance is 200 mm, and it has a collision detection function for toys and consumer electronics and industrial robots. The power consumption close to the sensor is as low as 6.63 µA, which helps improve the efficiency of these applications.

 

     CNL36825T supports the I²C bus communication interface, which can easily access the close signal. The programming interrupt function is convenient for the designer to set the upper and lower limit of the interrupt threshold, thereby reducing continuous communication with the microcontroller. Near the sensor use intelligent offset technology to eliminate string disturbances, and intelligent sustainability design ensures accurate detection and accelerate the response speed. VCSEL's wavelength peak is 940 nm, and there is no visible "red tail".

 

     The device has excellent temperature compensation capabilities within the temperature range of -40 ° C to +85 ° C. The humid sensitivity level (MSL) reaches the J-STD-020 standard 3, and the storage life of the workshop is 168 hours. The sensor meets the green standards of RoHS and Vishay, without halogen.
