In the post-pandemic era, onsemi sees strong demand for brushless direct current motors (BLDCS) in large and handheld appliances, robotics, and servo drives as key growth areas. At the same time, Anson anticipates that all gas-powered tools/handheld appliances will continue to move towards electrification, and will also see greater potential in more traditional industrial applications such as servos and automation. In particular, the brushless direct current motor (BLDC) and permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) markets will continue to grow as they begin to penetrate more traditional industrial markets such as servo motors.
In response to this market demand, onsemi focuses on device-to-system flexibility solutions, offering standalone 3-phase grid drivers for brushless direct current (BLDC) applications, as well as complete motor controller solutions that integrate grid drivers and microcontrollers. More integrated devices offer greater ease of use, while separate grid drivers offer more design flexibility.
Electric motors are always striving for higher energy efficiency ratio. Improving the energy efficiency of electric systems is one of the important values of semiconductor device applications. Therefore, onsemi has been researching and committed to understanding the latest/most popular brushless direct current (BLDC) motors that our customers are using, and providing solutions to drive the power levels and parameters of these motors. A software development suite that is more interactive and easier to use is a key tool to achieve this goal. More efficient and intelligent motor systems will require more advanced microcontroller-driven solutions. Sensors are also one of onsemi's very competitive motor drive system products. From a motor controller solution perspective, Onsemi is looking into integrating very precise sensors such as position sensors to enhance the value of our products in specific end-use applications. This will vary from application to application and will be a more targeted approach.
In addition to providing customers with a flexible choice of hardware products, Anson Beauty is also a leader in providing state-of-the-art motor reversing software algorithms. Our ecospin product family works with third party software vendors to deliver state-of-the-art algorithms called Direct Torque and Magnetic Flux Control (DTFC), Torque control in the low and high speed ranges of the motor is superior to more traditional reversing algorithms such as field oriented control (FOC) and direct torque control (DTC).
Onsemi's hardware and software solutions can provide customers with differentiated solutions from devices to systems.
