The world's smallest side-start detection switch for medical devices, safety controls and consumer electronics

     C&K, one of the world's most trusted brands of high-quality electromechanical switches, has announced the launch of two new series of micro, side-starting detection switches. The FDSD and FDSE series are among the smallest inspection switches in the world and are suitable for applications requiring longitudinal side inspection.

     The FDSD series of miniature side start detection switches can be used in a very small package size of only 4.20 mm x 3.60 mm x 1.20 mm with optional flat or curved terminals for simple PCB (printed circuit board) installations. At 5 V DC, the SPST-Beryllium-free copper contact has a resistance of less than 1 ohm, is rated at 10 mA and has a service life of 50,000 cycles. The detection switch requires a maximum force of 40 gf and a travel Angle of 60 degrees or 3.05 mm.

     The FDSE series adds an Angle feature to the series. In the same package specification, the SPST-NC contacts are also beryllium copper, with 50,000 cycles of service life. At 5 V DC, the contact resistance is less than 3 ohm and the rated current is 1mA. The tilt operation detector switch requires a maximum force of 35 gf and a travel Angle of 60 degrees or 3.14 mm.

     Both new product families feature extremely small PCB-mounted packages that provide long range travel detection, allowing for a wide range of travel detection in limited space.

     FDSD and FDSE switches operate in the temperature range of -10 ° C to 60 ° C and are widely used in consumer electronics, medical devices and safety controls, as well as a wide range of other applications. For example, it is commonly used to detect the presence of a cartridge in an inhaler to activate the dosing and confirm the allocated dose.
