Bourns, the world's leading manufacturer of electronic components for power, protection and sensing solutions, has introduced a new AEC-Q200 compliant automotive thin, high creepage distance isolation transformer. The Bourns H series flyback transformers are designed for high power density, higher performance and compact dimensions. This product is suitable for a variety of applications, including gate drivers and high voltage battery management systems (BMS).

The Bourns H series flyback transformers are designed for high power density, higher performance and compact dimensions. This product is suitable for a variety of applications, including gate drivers and high voltage battery management systems (BMS).

 

     Bournse's new flyback transformer family successfully expands Bourns' portfolio of low-power, high-creepage distance isolation transformers. The series operates at the standard 12V voltage and has an extended input voltage range of 10 to 24V. In addition, a new coil mechanical design helps improve system performance and safety. These characteristics make the HVMA03F4A-LP8S series ideal for silicon carbide (SiC), insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) and gallium nitride (GaN) switch components in automotive, industrial and energy storage applications.

 

     The Bourns HVMA03F4A-LP8S series has a center-tapped output design that produces a ±5V power supply to help open and close the bias gate drive circuit. The series is AEC-Q200 compliant with IEC 60664-1 compliant basic insulation and operates at voltages up to 800 VDC. In addition, it is designed with 8 mm creepage distance and 2 mm electrical clearance, withstands pressures up to 2750 VAC, and offers an extended operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C.
