Three ZEEKR EVs from Geely will use ROHM’s 4th generation SiC MOSFETs

     ROHM Semiconductor has announced the use of power modules equipped with fourth-generation SiC MOSFETs for traction inverters on three ZEEKR EV vehicles from Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, a top 10 global automaker. Starting in 2023, these power modules have been shipped from HAIMOSIC (SHANGHAI) Co., ROHM's joint venture with Zhenghai Group Co., LTD. Ltd mass-produced and exported to Viridi E-Mobility Technology (Ningbo) Co., Ltd, a first-tier manufacturer owned by Geely.

     Geely and Rohm have been working together since 2018, initially through technical exchanges, followed by a strategic alliance in 2021 with a focus on SiC power devices. As a result, Romm's SiC MOSFETs are integrated into three different models of traction inverters :ZEEKR X, 009 and 001. Rohm's power solutions focus on SiC MOSFETs, which greatly contribute to extending the range and improving overall performance of these electric vehicles.

     Committed to the advancement of SiC technology, ROHM plans to introduce fifth-generation SiC MOSFETs by 2025, while accelerating market access for sixth - and seventh-generation silicon-based devices. In addition, Rohm has contributed to the widespread acceptance of SiC technology by providing most forms of SiC technology such as bare chips, discrete components and modules, making a valuable contribution to building a sustainable society.

     The ZEEKR X, a compact SUV with a maximum power output of 300 kW and a range of more than 400 km, is attracting interest, especially outside of China, due to its excellent cost-effectiveness. To achieve a maximum range of 822 km, the 009 minivan is equipped with an intelligent cockpit and a large 140 KWH battery. For those looking for superior performance, the top-of-the-line model 001 offers a peak output of more than 400 kilowatts and consists of two motors paired with a range of more than 580 kilometers and four-wheel automatic control.
