Ti's OPA521 2.5A power amplifier incorporates overheating and overcurrent protection

     The OPA521 series from Texas Instruments is a line driver, power amplifier that complies with emission requirements for Powerline communications (PLC) performing in CENELEC bands a, B, C, and D, as well as ARIB STD-T84 and FCC part 15. These devices deliver up to 2.5 A currents on high-current, low-impedance lines with reactive loads. They use minimal external protection components to make the system cost and space efficient, which benefits from its optimized internal protection structure.

     The OPA521 provides a closed loop gain of -7 V/V and a bandwidth of 3.8 MHz. Monolithic integrated circuit has high reliability in power line communication applications. These line drivers operate on a single power supply of 7v to 24v. At a typical load current (I(OUT) = 2.5 a, Max), a wide output swing provides a capacity of 10v (PP) and a nominal supply of 24 V.
