Toshiba announces MG10-D series enterprise hard drives with capacity up to 10TB

     Toshiba Electronic Components and Storage Corporation (Toshiba) announced the launch of the MG10-D series of enterprise hard drives. The product is a member of the traditional Magnetic Recording (CMR) air hard drive family, supports SAS and SATA interfaces, and has a capacity of up to 10TB. The MG10-D series draws on more than 50 years of Toshiba's experience and is built with precision engineering technology to significantly improve performance and power efficiency compared to previous generations. The storage solution is known for robust performance and excellent reliability, while providing instant Clean Erase (SIE) and Self-encrypting Drive (SED) options to keep users' valuable data safe.

     The MG10-D series of enterprise hard drives has achieved new performance records and is dedicated to meeting the growing application demands of enterprise server and storage solutions. For example, compared to the previous model, the new MG10ADA10TE 10TB maximum sustained transfer speed is increased by approximately 13% to 268MiB/s, and the cache space is doubled to 512 MIB [5]. In addition, the drive's power consumption in active idle mode is reduced to 5.74W, a decrease of about 21%. The new MG10-D series is designed to reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) and seamlessly integrate into a variety of business-critical applications such as email, data analytics, data retention and monitoring.

     The Toshiba MG10-D series is a 5-disc CMR standard 3.5-inch, 7200RPM air enterprise hard drive. Both SAS and SATA interfaces are available with 2TB, 4TB, 6TB, 8TB and 10TB capacity options. The SATA interface also provides a 1TB hard disk option. The series supports 6Gb/s SATA or 12Gb/s SAS interface options, as well as 512e and 4Kn advanced format sector technologies. The 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB products offer 512n options to support legacy systems that use native 512-byte block sizes. MG10-D series products are designed for 24x7 enterprise-class applications with high reliability, rated workload of 550TB, AFR of 0.44%, MTTF/MTBF[8] of 2 million hours.
