Toshiba introduces a new line of reusable electronic Fuses (eFuse ics)

     Toshiba Electronic Components and Storage Corporation announced the launch of a new series of eight small high-voltage electronic fuses (eFuse ics), the TCKE9 series, which support a variety of power line protection functions. The first two products, "TCKE903NL" and "TCKE905ANA", start to support batch shipments today, and other products will be released in the future.

     The TCKE9 series features current limiting and voltage clamping to protect lines in the supply circuit from overcurrent and overvoltage conditions, which standard physical fuses cannot do. The specified current and voltage can be maintained even if abnormal overcurrent or overvoltage occurs.

     In addition, the new product also has overheating protection and short circuit protection, which can protect the circuit by turning off the eFuse IC immediately when the circuit generates abnormal heat or an unexpected short circuit occurs. Another advantage of eFuse IC is to eliminate complex circuit designs and reduce the number of components - allowing for simpler circuit designs using fewer components and a smaller area than using discrete components to implement protection functions.

     Toshiba is in the process of obtaining certification for the eFuse IC to the international advanced safety standard IEC 62368-1, which will also simplify the certification testing required for customer equipment.

     At present, the series consists of eight products, covering 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 20V four voltage levels, suitable for various supply voltage overvoltage protection, each voltage has two types - automatic retry type (eFuse IC automatic recovery circuit) and latch type (recovery triggered by an external signal). Customers can choose the right product according to their needs and equipment size.
