Toshiba introduces a new microcontroller based on the Arm Cortex-M4

     Toshiba announced the launch of a new family of MCUS based on Arm® CorTEX-M, the M4G Group, with built-in timers and communication channels, further enriching Toshiba's TXZ™ family of microcontrollers to support office automation (OA) equipment, audio and video (AV) equipment and industrial equipment. Mass production will begin with selected products and gradually expand thereafter.

     The M4G Group (1) of Toshiba TXZ™ series MCUS is based on an Arm Cortex-M4 core equipped with an FPU, integrates high-performance analog circuits, multiple timers and communication channels, offers a wide range of package types from 100 to 177 pins, and has a built-in flash memory capacity of between 512KB and 1536KB. Operating frequency up to 160MHz.

     In addition to a built-in high-precision analog circuit containing a 12-bit AD converter (up to 24 channels) and an 8-bit DA converter (2 channels) with a conversion speed of 1.0μs, the M4G group (1) of the TXZ™ series MCU has two built-in DMA controllers, a high-speed DMA controller and a multi-function DMA controller. Both controllers not only enable low power consumption, but also provide advanced functionality while integrating multifunctional peripherals such as Serial memory Interface (SMIF), UART, I2C, TSPI, and timers to support large-scale systems.

     The built-in AD converter in the M4G group (1) of the TXZ™ series MCUS allows two sampling cycles to be selected for any channel, reducing impedance regulation in large-scale systems that require multiple sensors. In addition, built-in timers, UART and TSPI interconnections, and interval sensor detection circuits (ISDs) help reduce loads in software processing.

     Toshiba plans to introduce microcontroller groups for communication control in high-speed data processing and devices equipped with high-precision analog circuits for low - and medium-speed motor control. Toshiba will continue to enrich the TXZ series to meet the needs of the motor control and global sensing markets.
