Toshiba introduces a new series of low-voltage drive optical relays

Toshiba Electronic Components and Memory Devices, Inc., the industry leader in miniaturized cutting-edge optical relays, today announced the introduction of a new family of five optical relays in the industry's smallest [1] package, the S-VSONR4 (2.0mm x 1.45mm). The new products are suitable for automatic test equipment, memory testers, SoC/LSI testers and probe cards.

     Toshiba Electronic Components and Memory Devices, Inc., the industry leader in miniaturized cutting-edge optical relays, today announced the introduction of a new family of five optical relays in the industry's smallest [1] package, the S-VSONR4 (2.0mm x 1.45mm). The new products are suitable for automatic test equipment, memory testers, SoC/LSI testers and probe cards.

 

     The TLP34xxSRL series (two products) and the TLP34xxSRH series (three products) have input voltage drive features. The TLP3406SRL and TLP3407SRL support DC voltage ranges from 1.8V (typical value) to 3.3V (typical value), while the TLP3406SRH, TLP3407SRH and TLP3412SRH support DC voltage ranges from 3.3V (typical value) to 5V (typical value). These features improve compatibility with today's low-voltage FPgas.

 

     These new optical relays are available in a miniature S-VSONR4 package that requires 2.9mm2 of mounting area, which is approximately 27 percent smaller than Toshiba's previous generation package, the VSONR4 (2.75mm x 1.45mm). In addition, these optical relays have built-in input resistors, eliminating the need for external input resistors, thus saving space. The miniature package and its space requirements help engineers design smaller test boards, especially probe cards. It also allows to increase the number of optical relays on the board to enable higher density solutions.

 

     Despite the miniature package, the new optical relay is capable of driving large currents: the TLP3406SRx can drive up to 1.5A current, the off-state voltage VOFF is 30V, and the on-resistance Ron is 0.2Ω (maximum); The TLP3407SRx can drive up to 1A current with a VOFF of 60V and a Ron of 0.3Ω. The TLP3412SRH can drive up to 0.4A (VOFF = 60V/Ron = 1.5Ω). They are therefore ideal for power applications in a variety of test equipment. All of these new products are guaranteed to support operating temperatures up to 110 ° C (maximum).
