Toshiba introduces a new series of small surface mount LDO regulators

     Toshiba announced the launch of two new series of small surface mount LDO regulators, the TCR5BM Series and the TCR8BM Series, for power supply applications in mobile devices, video and audio and video products. Both series are suitable for power applications for MCUS, RF devices, camera CMOS sensors in mobile devices, imaging and audio and video devices. These devices have gradually popularized the use of lower voltages of about 1V.

     The TCR5BM series includes 40 models that support pressure differentials as low as 100mV and output currents up to 500mA; The TCR8BM series also includes 40 models that support pressure differentials down to 170mV and output currents up to 800mA. Both the TCR5BM series and TCR8BM series offer VOUT as low as 0.8V or as high as 3.6V.

     By using the latest generation of low-on-resistance N-channel MOSFETs and external bias voltages, both series reduce the pressure difference that causes power consumption to about 67% of Toshiba's current products [1], the lowest level in the industry, and the static current of the new LDO series is about 50% lower than other high-current LDO regulators on the market. Reduces device power consumption and extends the operating time of battery-powered devices.

     In addition, the new product has a ripple rejection ratio of 98dB (typical value), which can stably suppress high-frequency noise from the external environment and DC-DC converter to avoid failure. They also provide fast load transient responses to avoid failures caused by rapid switching of IC operating modes. Both series are available in a small surface mount 1.2mm x 1.2mm DFN5B[3] package, ideal for space-constrained designs. The TCR5BM series supports up to 500mA of current and the TCR8BM series supports up to 800mA of current, making it easier for users to design products.
