Toshiba introduces a small packaged motor driver IC with fewer external components, saving board space

     Toshiba Electronic Components & Storage Co., Ltd. introduced motor drive ics "TB67S581FNG", "TB67S580FNG", "TB67H481FNG" and "TB67H480FNG" for consumer products and industrial equipment, which not only reduced the number of external components required, but also reduced the number of external components. It also uses a very versatile and space-saving compact package. With the launch of four new products, Toshiba has further expanded its product line.

     Among them, the two new products TB67S581FNG and TB67S580FNG are 2-phase bipolar stepper motor driver ics. The motor output rated voltage (absolute maximum) of TB67S581FNG is 50V, and the motor output rated current (absolute maximum) is 2.5A. The motor output rated voltage (absolute maximum) and current (absolute maximum) of TB67S580FNG are 50V and 1.6A respectively.

     The other two products, TB67H481FNG and TB67H480FNG, are constant current double H-bridge driver ics with rated motor output voltage (absolute maximum) of 50V and rated motor output current (absolute maximum) of 2.5A. The input interface of TB67H481FNG is IN input, while TB67H480FNG uses PHASE input.

     These four products are available in an extremely versatile compact HTSSOP28 package with a surface area approximately 39% smaller than the HTSSOP48 package used in Toshiba's current TB67S109AFNG. Unlike the QFN type package, which arranges terminals on all sides, the HTSSOP package arranges terminals in both directions, making it easier to route the terminals on the board.

     These ics have built-in capacitors for charge pump circuits that not only reduce external components, but also save board space. The motor driver IC not only supports motor supply voltages from 8.2V to 44V, but also low power current (IM1) up to 20μA in sleep mode, so it can be widely used in 12V/24V supply applications.
