
Toshiba Electronic Components and Storage Corporation announced the launch of the first eFuse IC "TCKE8xx Series." The series includes six products that support the various functions required for circuit protection in power lines. The most notable feature of eFuse IC is that it can be reused. Traditional physical fuses such as glass tube fuses and chip fuses actually cut off the power supply line in the overcurrent state to protect the power supply line, and need to be replaced once it is blown. eFuse IC products cut off the power supply line with their own line in the event of an anomaly, which can be reset and reused.
Another big advantage is that eFuse IC can avoid complex circuit design and eliminate a certain number of components. Compared to the safety features guaranteed by the use of discrete components, it requires only a smaller number of components and a smaller board area, thus significantly simplifying the circuit design.
The new TCKE8xx series improves overcurrent detection accuracy beyond that of physical fuses for highly reliable line protection. In addition, eFuse IC provides current clamp mode and voltage clamp mode to prevent overcurrent and overvoltage. By clamping current and voltage to the rating, they protect the circuit and maintain power supply, even when overcurrent or overvoltage is applied. eFuse IC also provides overheat protection and short circuit protection, in the event of severe overheating or accidental short circuit, can immediately cut off the power supply, play a role in protecting the circuit.
The combination of these features enables the family to provide strong protection for electronic devices such as servers and laptops. In recent years, the requirements for pressure and flow resistance of the above equipment have been continuously improved. And since Toshiba plans to be certified to the international high level safety standard IEC 62368-1, they will also simplify the certification testing required for customer equipment.
This product line offers two types of products: one is the automatic retry recovery type, that is, eFuse itself automatic recovery line; The other is the latch type, which is recovered by using an external signal. Customers can choose the right eFuse IC products according to their needs and the size of the equipment.
