Toshiba Electronic Components & Storage Corporation announced that it has begun offering engineering samples of the "TB9084FTG" gate drive IC for 3-phase brushless DC motors. This device can be used to drive critical on-board functions including body system applications, electric pumps, and motor generators. The device sample is now open for application.

     Many of the mechanical components in today's road vehicles are now electrified, and a large number of on-board motors are installed in vehicles, including those used in body system applications. This shift is driving the industry to replace DC brushless motors with quieter, more durable ones.

 

     The TB9084FTG is designed to enhance the transition from DC brushless motors to DC brushless motors. The device provides the minimum required gate driver IC functionality for on-board applications and supports a wide range of on-board motor applications by combining external components such as MOSFETs, power ics, microcontrollers, and communication PHYs. Any change in customer requirements for the system can be achieved by replacing the corresponding external components, significantly increasing the flexibility of the system design.

 

     The new product minimizes functionality in one of the smallest [5] packages in the industry (6 mm×6 mm P-VQFN36-0606-0.50) to facilitate device miniaturization. The package also has solderable flanks that allow visual inspection to confirm solder joint reliability.
