Toshiba launches 100V high current photorelay for industrial equipment

     Toshiba Electronic Components & Storage Corporation announced the launch of a new photorelay, the "TLP241B", which makes the temperature design margin of the device easier to obtain due to the maximum operating temperature rating of 110°C. This high-current photorelay comes in a DIP4 package and is suitable for industrial applications such as programmable logic controllers and I/O interfaces.

     The TLP241B integrates MOSFETs based on Toshiba's latest generation U-MOS process. Using the TLP241B, the off-state output voltage is increased to 100V, which is 150% higher than the 40V of the current TLP241A. The relay adopts a general-purpose DIP4 package, which is the industry's first [1] DIP4 package product that can provide 100V off-state output voltage, 2A on-current and 5kV isolation voltage. The relays can be used in many types of applications with increased ratings.

     The TLP241B can replace normally open contact mechanical relays. Unlike mechanical relays, the TLP241B has no contacts that can age. In addition, its low-current drive characteristics extend product life. Its other advantages are short response time and PCB space savings due to the smaller package size.
