Trinamic introduces controller/driver IC

     TRINAMIC Motion Control, the world's leading developer of motor and motion control technology, announced the TMC5160. This new single-axis stepper motor driver IC with serial communication interface is designed for 2-phase bipolar stepper motors with external MOSFETs, with motor currents up to 20A per coil.

     In fact, it's so simple to use that all you need is the target location. All stepper motor logic runs inside the TMC5160 - no software is required when driving NEMA17 to NEMA34 and larger motors. Connected to the host microcontroller via an industry-standard SPI or stepper/directional interface, the TMC5160 performs all real-time position and speed stepper motion calculations.

     The extension of the TMC2100, TMC2130 and TMC5130 series to higher voltages and motor currents is the result of the company's successful SpreadCycle™, StealthChop™ and SixPoint™ technologies, which deliver up to 256 microsteps per step. Quiet operation and advanced ramp profiling maximize the motor's torque characteristics for fast positioning. Designed for CNC machine tools, textile machinery, laboratory automation, factory automation and other fields that require smooth, quiet and precise operation of motors.

     To shorten application development time, Trinamic offers a comprehensive application development kit, TTAP, which includes code samples, EDA libraries, and reference designs. Use Trinamic's intuitive PC-based software, TPCL-IDE, and a modular assessment suite with TMC's "Landungsbrucke" to enable rapid assessments.
