BLDC motors are known for their durability, efficiency and controllability. But while durability and efficiency are inherent in the brushless DC motor itself, the ability to control them depends on the feedback mechanism used. That's why TRINAMIC Motion Control is introducing the latest ABN encoder for BLDC motors: TMCS-28-x-1024.

 

     "Incremental encoders are a key factor in using BLDC motors," says Michael Randt. "Not only can they improve the performance of applications, they can also relieve the increasing pressure on engineers for miniaturization and efficiency by allowing for smaller drives."

 

     The optical incremental encoder for brushless DC motors is able to drive the motors with the precise torque and speed required for the application, enabling the use of smaller drives in applications, opening up new markets for them. In addition, encoders like the TMCS-28-x-1024 ABN encoder can also perform predictive maintenance when used correctly.

 

     A growing number of indicators suggest that in the near future, applications will be able to predict when parts need to be calibrated, checked for wear, and even replaced. Tracking the runtime is one approach, but tracking the exact number and type of processing is more accurate.

 

     Using brushless DC motor encoders, or other feedback system methods such as closed-loop ics for stepper motors, predictive maintenance can be built into any application. In this way, incremental encoders can not only increase efficiency by driving the motor in the best possible way, but also further increase efficiency by reducing downtime to a minimum.
