U-blox, a global leader in wireless and positioning modules and chips, announced the launch of the world's first 4G LTE Cat 4 module, TOBY-L201, with 3G WCDMA downcompatibility and operating on AT&T and Verizon networks. Without loading new firmware, the TOBY-L201 switches to AT&T or Verizon networks automatically or via AT commands. Depending on the carrier to which the SIM card is inserted, TOBY-L201 automatically identifies the carrier and starts operating on that carrier's network. If the device has two SIM cards or a configurable SIM card, the TOBY-L201 can also instantly switch between two carriers with a simple AT command.
The multifunctional nature of the TOBY-L201 module delivers industry-best download speeds of 150 Mbps in a compact LGA package measuring just 24.8 x 35.6 mm. It can operate from -40°C to +85°C and is suitable for the most demanding automotive, industrial and consumer devices. The TOBY-L201 is ideal for infotainment systems, in-vehicle data communication controls, robust mobile terminals, in-flight boxes, laptops, tablets, and high-speed M2M applications such as alarm systems, digital signage, mobile healthcare, remote security and video systems.

Of course, like all u-blox Honeycomb modules, TOBY-L201 is compatible with our GSM/GPRS, HSPA/HSPA+ and CDMA module layouts, so customers can easily upgrade their existing products."
The TOBY-L201 includes IPv4/IPv6 stacks to support secure iot applications. This module is designed for easy integration with u-blox GNSS modules and chips, providing both outdoor and indoor positioning capabilities. The TOBY-L201 also includes a complete IP protocol suite, including TCP/IP, UDP/IP, HTTP, FTP, and SSL.
