U-blox introduces new functional safety end-to-end positioning solutions

     U-blox announced the launch of u-safe, a comprehensive vehicle location function safety solution, to drive the pace of mass production of autonomous vehicles. u-safe leverages the well-developed components of automotive driver navigation systems to provide Tier 1 suppliers and Oems with advanced Automatic Driver Assistance System (ADAS) positioning solutions that support this segment with outstanding reliability and safety.

     Typical u-safe application scenarios include ADAS Level 3 and higher applications that require high integrity and functional safety features. In addition, ADAS L2+ applications can also benefit from this solution, ensuring that the system is ready for future requirements and is ready to move towards higher levels of automation.

     U-blox is the first to market with an end-to-end positioning solution that complies with functional safety and SOTIF standards, combining proprietary hardware with custom software and differential correction services. As a result, u-safe can provide comprehensive solutions for customers working in the ADAS (up to SAE L5 level) space, helping them streamline their automotive supply chain.

     With this new solution, u-blox hopes to take Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) positioning to the next level. Integrated into the ADAS and autonomous driving product system, u-safe provides an additional layer of safety for the highly automated and autonomous driving market by providing functional safety (ISO-26262 standard), highly integrated and trusted positioning solutions.

     U-safe ensures that ASIL-B GNSS positioning supports highly sophisticated secure automotive systems and utilizes u-blox's 9th generation GNSS technology platform, including A9 ASIL-B chipsets and modules, PointSafe (GMV equipped) high precision and safety calibration services and on-board secure positioning engines. And the Thingstream IoT platform and customized integration support for OEM backends.
