U-blox launches ultra small size and ultra-low power consumption MIA-M10Q positioning module

The u-blox MIA-M10 module, with a microchip sized antenna and battery, provides ultra-low power consumption and reliable location performance, helping to shorten the development cycle of a compact asset tracking solution.

     U-blox announced the launch of u-blox MIA-M10 ultra small size GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) series modules. MIA-M10 is developed based on the ultra-low power consumption u-blox M10 GNSS technology platform, which can provide efficient and energy-saving solutions for battery powered asset tracking equipment with limited size, mainly for personnel, pet tracking, industrial sensor and consumer goods markets. The size is only 4.5x4.5mm, which is basically 1/2 of the size of similar products on the market. Therefore, with the help of MIA-M10, product developers can design lighter and more elegant products, thus promoting the wide application of positioning technology in consumer and industrial fields

 

     In addition, the power saving mode of the MIA-M10 module can effectively balance the positioning performance and power consumption. On the premise of ensuring the positioning performance, the power consumption is only half of the conventional mode MIA-M10 can simultaneously receive signals from the four GNSS constellations of GPS, Galileo, Beidou and GLONASS, and can simultaneously receive more satellite signals. In combination with its high RF sensitivity, MIA-M10 series modules can provide stable positioning services for equipment with built-in small antennas, even in weak signal environments (such as deep urban canyons).

 

     The MIA-M10 series modules also support the u-blox AssistNow auxiliary GNSS service. By receiving satellite orbit data broadcast by the AssistNow service, MIA-M10 can track satellite signals without waiting for the satellite calibration data download process, greatly reducing the time to start the first positioning (TTFF). For applications that require extra long service life, you can also choose the u-blox CloudLocale service to upload the calculation of locations with high power consumption to the cloud to further extend the service life of local IoT devices. The size of MIA-M10 GNSS module is equivalent to that of the chip, without external components. It will help R&D personnel reduce product engineering and testing work, save costs and resources, and shorten the time to market.

 

     MIA-M10 has two product models, MIA-M10Q and MIA-M10C. MIA-M10Q is mainly targeted at the market of battery powered tracking devices with limited size, such as wearable devices for children, the elderly, and pets' health tracking, as well as high dynamic application scenarios powered by batteries, such as small drones, cameras, bicycles and GPS code meters.

 

    MIA-M10 is an industry-leading compact GNSS module currently on the market. Although it is only chip size, it has the functions of GNSS module. The MIA-M10 family continues the u-blox M10 GNSS ultra-low power technology platform's high sensitivity to satellite signals and low capture time, providing an attractive solution for power and size constrained end devices, especially the expanding market for wearable tracking devices.
