VIPERGAN65 converter with E-mode GaN HEMT

     The VIPERGAN65 from stmicroelectronics is a high voltage converter with an advanced PWM controller and 650 V GaN power transistor embedded, designed for single-switch flyback converters. Packaged in a small QFN 5x6, it is the smallest in its class and is capable of managing up to 65w of power.

     The compact device size combined with the high performance and high switching frequency of GaN power devices enables a highly integrated design with high power density, resulting in a faster, lighter, smaller and easily portable final product USB-PD charger.

     In line with the broader global trend of energy emission reduction, VIPERGAN65's low reserve consumption makes a direct contribution to reducing energy use, in line with ambitious projects to achieve net zero emissions in the coming decades.

     A quasi-resonant (QR) operation with dynamic blanking time characteristics and valley synchronization reduces switching losses and maximizes overall efficiency under any input line and load conditions. Advanced low silent power management to achieve low standby power consumption. Feedforward compensation minimizes the input peak power variation over the entire input voltage range. The device supports secondary side regulation (SSR) flyback configurations with standard optical couplers.
