
Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a new AEC-Q200 qualified NTC thermistor featuring PEeK-insulated nickel-iron (NiFe) leads and a low thermal gradient. Designed to withstand high temperatures up to +185°C, Vishay BCcomponents NTCLE350E4 provides fast, high-precision temperature measurement and sensing in a variety of automotive applications.
NiFe alloy for NTCLE350E4 wires has the lowest thermal conductivity currently on the market. As a result, the device provides a thermal gradient of less than 0.01 K/K (or 1%), emits almost no heat to the surrounding environment, and allows for highly accurate temperature measurements. Other conductive materials, such as copper, may deviate by several degrees. To improve reliability in high humidity conditions, the sensor has a high bonding strength between its PEeK-insulated wire and the sealed epoxy paint. The smallest bead has a maximum diameter of 2.4 mm and can respond quickly in the air for 6 s.
The NTCLE350E4's excellent accuracy, speed and high temperature performance make it ideal for engine coolant, fuel and manifold pressure (MAP/TMAP) sensors in internal combustion engines outside of HVAC applications. In traction motors, devices can be protected by potting or molded sensors to protect high-current connectors. In addition to exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) applications, the NTCLE350E4 can also be used as an oil temperature sensor (OTS) in transmission systems and liquid-cooled starter generator systems.
Rohs-compliant sensors have resistance ranges from 2.1kΩ to 30 kω at +25°C (R25) with tolerances as low as 1%; Beta (B25/85) has a resistance range of 3435 K to 3984 K with tolerances as low as ± 0.5%. The device has a maximum power consumption of 100 mW and improved resistance to harmful gases and acids.
