Vishay Introduces New Wide Edge Thin Film Chip Resistors with Better Performance and Reliability for Automotive and Industrial Systems

     Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced that it has expanded the NCW AT series of wide-edge thin-film chip resistors with a new 0612 form factor device. Vishay Beyschlag NCW 0612 AT resistors offer excellent high temperature performance and excellent long-term stability, with power ratings up to 1 W and resistance values as low as 0.10 W, for power electronics in automotive and industrial applications.

     Combined with the previously released NCW 0406 AT, the recently released AEC-Q200 qualified device broadside geometry has excellent temperature cycling robustness. In addition, the resistors operate at temperatures up to +175 °C, high sulfur resistance per ASTM B 809, and excellent humidity resistance at 85 °C and 85 % relative humidity.

     These specifications allow designers to use NCW AT series resistors in harsh and high temperature environments without compromising power ratings or electrical performance. The new resistors are ideal for applications where power dissipation, reliability, stability and robust design are major considerations in a large number of modern professional power electronics. Typical applications include DC/DC converters, LED drivers, DC current monitoring and battery management systems.
