Vishay Introduces Two-Wire ESD Protection Diodes with Ultra-Low Capacitance

     Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the release of a new bidirectional symmetrical (BiSy) two-wire ESD protection diode, the VBUS05M2-HT5, in a small wettable flank DFN1110-3A package. Vishay Semiconductors VBUS05M2-HT5 saves space over SOT package solutions and features ultra-low capacitance and leakage current to protect high-speed data lines from transient voltage signals.

     With a typical load capacitance of only 0.37 pF, the device is suitable for commercial applications such as USB 2.0, USB 3.0, and HDMI port protection. For automotive applications, the VBUS05M2-HT5 is also available in AEC-Q101 qualified versions. This protection diode has a maximum leakage current of less than 0.1 μA at ±5.5 V operating voltage, a typical breakdown voltage of 8.5 V at 1 mA reverse current, and a maximum clamping voltage of 18 V at 3.4 A peak pulse current.

     The VBUS05M2-HT5 data line transient protection is up to ± 20 kV (air and contact discharge) as specified in IEC 61000‑4‑2. Device Moisture Sensitivity (MSL) to J-STD-020 Standard Class 1 and Fire Resistance to UL 94 V-0. The protection diodes are RoHS and Vishay Green compliant, halogen free, and support automatic optical inspection (AOI) in automotive systems.
