Vishay Introduces Ultra-Miniature, High-Reliability ESD Protection Diodes

On October 16, 2024, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the launch of a new automotive-grade bidirectional single-line ESD protection diode, the VETH100A1DD1. This diode is packaged in a compact DFN1006-2B form factor with side-wettable flanks for easy soldering. Specifically designed for automotive Ethernet applications, it complies with OPEN Alliance 100Base-T1 and 1000Base-T1 standards. The diode offers low clamping voltage, dynamic resistance, and capacitance, providing effective protection for high-speed data lines from transient voltage signals.
The VETH100A1DD1 occupies less space and is thinner than other standard packaged devices. Featuring snap-back technology with a trigger voltage of over 100V, it achieves a very low clamping voltage of just 31V at 1A. With typical dynamic resistance as low as 0.4 ohms, it enhances ESD pulse absorption capabilities and provides strong protection. Additionally, its maximum capacitance of only 2 pF helps maintain signal integrity.
The diode offers transient protection for data lines in accordance with ISO 10605 and IEC 610004-2 standards, with ratings up to ±15 kV (1000x contact discharge). For automotive applications, the VETH100A1DD1 meets AEC-Q101 qualifications and operates at 24V, making it suitable for automotive Ethernet, as well as industrial automation systems, computing, consumer entertainment devices, home appliances, fixed communication infrastructure, and medical instruments.
The diode has a moisture sensitivity level (MSL) of 1 per J-STD-020 standards and a flammability rating of UL 94 V-0. It is RoHS compliant, meets Vishay’s green standards, is halogen-free, and supports automated optical inspection (AOI) for automotive systems.
Samples of the VETH100A1DD1 are now available, and the device is in full production with a lead time of 20 weeks.
