Vishay expands EP1 high energy density wet tantalum capacitors with new B and C housing codes

Vishay Intertechnology has announced the introduction of new B and C enclosures to expand its EP1 wet tantalum capacitors to meet the needs of defense and aerospace applications. Capacitors offer the highest capacity in the industry for every voltage class and form factor, radial through-hole or surface-mount end, and are available in A, B and C housing codes, each with the option of bolting for increased design flexibility.

     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the introduction of new B and C enclosures to expand its EP1 wet tantalum capacitors to meet the needs of defense and aerospace applications. Capacitors offer the highest capacity in the industry for every voltage class and form factor, radial through-hole or surface-mount end, and are available in A, B and C housing codes, each with the option of bolting for increased design flexibility.

 

     The enhanced EP1 uses Vishay's proven SuperTan® technology, and the B shell code and C shell code devices have ultra-high capacities of 3,600 µF to 40,000 µF and 5,300 µF to 58,000 µF, respectively. Device voltage levels range from 25VDC to 125VDC. The EP1 capacity index is among the industry leaders, with the C case size device achieving a capacity of 12,000 µF at 80V, 33% higher than the next closest competitor. Capacitors have a standard capacitance tolerance of ± 20%, while products with a tolerance of ± 10% are available.

 

     The EP1 features an all-tantalum sealed housing for increased reliability and is suitable for laser guidance, radar and avionics systems pulse power and energy retention applications. The operating temperature of the device is -55℃~+85℃, and the temperature can reach +125℃ when the voltage derates. The maximum ESR is as low as 0.015 Ω at 1kHz and +25℃. Capacitors are available with tin/lead (Sn/Pb) terminations and RoHS compliant 100% pure tin terminations.
