Vishay has announced the launch of two new 2 A to 12 A microBUCK series synchronous step-down regulators with input voltage ranges of 4.5V to 55V (SiC476/7/8/9) and 4.5V to 60V (SiC466/7/8/9). The Vishay Siliconix device is packaged in a small 5x5 PowerPAK package with high-performance n-channel channel MOSFETs and controllers for high efficiency and power density, while internal compensation reduces the number of external components.

    Vishay has announced the launch of two new 2 A to 12 A microBUCK series synchronous step-down regulators with input voltage ranges of 4.5V to 55V (SiC476/7/8/9) and 4.5V to 60V (SiC466/7/8/9). The Vishay Siliconix device is packaged in a small 5x5 PowerPAK package with high-performance n-channel channel MOSFETs and controllers for high efficiency and power density, while internal compensation reduces the number of external components. The microBUCK regulator features the same controller IC and package form factor, while offering a range of MOSFET ratings from which designers can choose the best cost-performance combination.

 

     With an operating current of only 156µA and a peak efficiency of 98%, the regulator allows designers to reduce power consumption and increase power density. High efficiency Combined with the excellent thermal design of the 5 mm x 5 mm PowerPAK package, the regulator can operate at lower temperatures, thereby improving long-term stability and eliminating the need for additional heat sinks. The wide range of microBUCK safe working areas allows designers the flexibility to meet various operating temperature and current requirements. As a result, designers can shrink PCB sizes, simplify thermal management and reduce system costs.

 

     SiC466/7/8/9 and SiC476/7/8/9 series voltage regulators have a wide input voltage range, and the output voltage is adjustable in the range of 24 V~0.8V, suitable for a variety of applications. This includes industrial and factory automation DC/DC converters, home automation equipment, industrial computing, base station power supplies, 5G network equipment and small cells, wall-mounted transformer regulators, robots, drones, battery management systems, power tools, vending machines, ATMs and coin-operated machines.

 

     The new SiC46x series devices include 2 A SiC469, 4 A SiC468, 6 A SiC467, and 10 A SiC466, and the new SiC47x series devices include 3 A SiC479, 5 A SiC478, 8 A SiC477, and 12 A SiC476. All devices are space-occupying compatible, making it easy for designers to implement extended application solutions. The regulator has a high configuration capability, the switching frequency can be adjusted in the range of 100kHz~2MHz, soft start and current limits can be adjusted, and there are two working modes of forced continuous work or energy saving. Both series have internal compensation and do not require an external RC network.

 

     The microBUCK COT architecture has ultra-fast transient response, requires only a small output capacitance, and can strictly regulate ripple under light load. Moreover, the regulator maintains loop stability regardless of the type of output capacitor used, including low-ESR ceramic capacitors. The regulator integrates a variety of reliable protection features, including output overvoltage protection (OVP), output undervoltage protection (UVP), overcurrent circuit protection (OCP), short circuit protection with automatic retry (SCP), overheat protection (OTP), and power good mark.
