
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the introduction of the RAIK060, a new high-precision position sensor based on induction technology for demanding industrial applications. Compared to solutions based on magnetic technology, the Vishay MCB RAIK060 Absolute encoder kit offers a thinner thickness of 5 mm, a lighter weight of 15.5 g, a higher speed of 10,000 rpm, and a shorter delay time of ≤ 5 μs. In addition, the device is not sensitive to the magnetic environment, so it can be used close to the motor.
The position sensor is ideal for robotics, motor drives and other industrial applications that require precise positioning, including conveyor belt control and automated guided vehicles. The design variant can be used specifically for brake position control on drones, commercial aircraft, regional aircraft and eVTOL aircraft. In addition, the RAIK060 provides pitch and yaw position control for windmills; Provide roller position control for cleaning robot; Brake position control for communication antennas, medical X-ray machines and hospital beds.
For these applications, the RAIK060 achieves > 13-bit accuracy, 18-bit resolution, and ³ 17-bit repeatability while maintaining resistance to external magnetic fields, moisture, air pollution, vibration, mechanical shock, and temperature changes. This position sensor features an off-axis design for hollow shaft mounting with an effective electrical Angle of 360° and a wide temperature range from -40 °C to +105 °C. With an outer diameter of 60 mm and an inner diameter of 25 mm, the device provides a number of turns variable and an SPI, SSI or Biss-C output signal.
The RAIK060's embedded self-calibration simplifies setup without the use of external software, while its air gap tolerance is up to ± 0.2 mm and its frame contains LED status indicators for easy installation and assembly. For ease of use, the device can remember the last position before power failure, and the built-in self-monitoring function improves safety.
