Vishay introduces AEC-Q200 certified thick film high power resistors

     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the launch of the first AEC-Q200 automotive class certified high power resistors on the market - the LPSA 300, LPSA 600 and LPSA 800. The Vishay Sfernice LPSA 300, LPSA 600 and LPSA 800 can be mounted directly on the radiator, with high power and enhanced pulse processing capabilities, helping designers reduce the number of automotive application components and reduce costs.

     The device can be used as an inverter and converter precharge or drain resistor for electric vehicles (EVs), hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). The LPSA 300, LPSA 600, and LPSA 800 are rated at 300 W, 600 W, and 800 W, respectively, allowing designers to replace multiple low-power devices with a single resistor in such applications. In addition, its pulse processing capacity is 400 J to 1500 J, and the pulse time is 0.05 s to 0.5 s, which can be used to replace the larger winding resistance and save board space.

     The LPSA 300, LPSA 600 and LPSA 800 have a maximum operating temperature of +175 °C and resistance ranges from 0.03Ω to 900 kΩ. At the same time, the insulation voltage is up to 12 kV RMS. The device is RoHS compliant, has an inductorless design, tolerances as low as ± 1%, and has excellent automotive reliability test results (e.g., 1,000 + temperature cycles, 1,000 hours of service life).
