Vishay introduces ThermaWick THJP series of surface mount thermal jumper chip resistors

     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the ThermaWick THJP series of surface mount thermal jumper chip resistors. Vishay Dale thin-film devices enable designers to transfer heat from electrical isolation devices to ground layers or general-purpose radiators by providing a heat-conducting channel.

     Using an aluminum nitride substrate with a thermal conductivity of up to 170 W/mK, the chip reduces the temperature of connected devices by more than 25 percent, allowing designers to increase the power handling capacity of these devices or extend the service life under existing operating conditions, while maintaining the electrical isolation of each device. The reliability of the overall circuit is improved by avoiding the influence of heat load on adjacent devices.

     With capacities as low as 0.07 pF, the THJP family of devices is an excellent choice for high frequency and heat ladder applications. Thermal conductors are used in power supplies and converters, RF amplifiers, synthesizers, pin laser diodes, and filters for AMS, industrial, and telecommunications applications.

     Devices are available in six dimensions from 0603 to 2512, and custom dimensions are available. The 0612 and 1225 dimensions feature long side end connections for improved thermal conductivity. Hot jumper chip resistors are available with lead (Pb) and lead free (Pb) coil terminations.
