Vishay introduces a new range of screw joint aluminum capacitors

     Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the introduction of a new family of small screw-on aluminum capacitors that offer 10% more capacity and ripple current handling, respectively, than their predecessors in a given package size, allowing designers to store more energy in a smaller space. The new Vishay BCcomponents501 PGM-ST family of devices is used in a wide range of applications and end products, including motor drives, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), inverter welders, UPS, X-ray machines, microgrid interfaces, wind turbines and scientific inspection equipment.

     The 501 PGM-ST series devices are rated at 400 V, 450 V and 500 V, with capacities from 1000 F to 18 000 F. The new 501 PGM-ST capacitor has A cylindrical aluminum shell, blue sleeve insulation, seal disc with a decompression device, rated ripple current up to 30.2 A at + 85℃, and a service life of 5,000 hours. Capacitors do not contain lead (Pb) and are RoHS compliant.

     The 501 PGM-ST series devices are polarized aluminum electrolytic capacitors using non-solid-state electrolytes and are particularly suitable for a variety of applications requiring small, high energy storage. Its 500 V rating increases the voltage margin for motor drives, UPS, and PV inverters, while allowing the three-phase 380 V design to be reused in 480 V systems by simply upgrading the DC-Link capacitor and upgrading the PV inverter system maximum input to 1000 V.
