Vishay introduces new 30 V and 40 V automotive grade P-channel TrenchFET power MOSFEts -SQJ407EP and SQJ409EP - in a Gull-wing lead PowerPAK SO-8L package for improved board level reliability. The SQJ407EP and SQJ409EP are AEC-Q101 certified and offer more than 50% less footprint than DPAK packaged devices, saving PCB space and reducing costs while having a lower on-resistance than any Gull wing lead structure 5 mm x 6 mm packaged MOSFETs.

     Due to the high power requirements, 12 V automotive system motor drives and main power supplies require MOSFETs to have extremely low on-resistance in a variety of applications, such as battery reverse polarity protection and high side switches. The Vishay Siliconix-30 V SQJ407EP and -40 V SQJ409EP meet this requirement with on-resistance of 4.4m and 7.0m respectively at 10 V. In addition, as P-channel MOSFETs, both devices are ideal load switches that do not require a charge pump to provide the forward gate voltage required for N-channel devices.

 

     The device is in a lead-free (Pb) package, halogen-free, RoHS compliant and 100% Rg and UIS tested. The MOSFET can operate at temperatures up to +175 C, while the Gull-wing lead structure relives mechanical stresses caused by temperature cycling, motherboard bending, vibration, and unexpected drops, providing superior board level reliability compared to rigid QFN packages. The Gull-wing lead structure also helps the automated optical inspection (AOI) process achieve more consistent and reliable results.
