Vishay introduces infrared sensor modules for outdoor use with extended temperature range

     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the addition of the TSSP77038 infrared (IR) sensor module in its HeimDall-packaged package, the TSSP77038ETR, with an extended temperature "E" option. The Vishay Semiconductors TSSP77038ETR extends the storage temperature to -40 C~+110 C and the operating temperature to -30 C~+85 C to meet the special requirements of outdoor applications.

     The storage temperature and operating temperature of the standard package infrared sensor module are only -25 C~+85 C. Designed in a robust Heimdall package, the TSSP77038ETR operates over a wider temperature range and is suitable for applications with direct sunlight and large temperature changes, including garage door raster systems, door locks, and packaging and bin sensors.

     Used in conjunction with Vishay's TSAL6200 infrared emitter tube, the TSSP77038ETR has a detection distance of 8 m at 50 mA forward current. The device is suitable for detecting the distance of objects and can be used in toys, remote-controlled aircraft and robots. It can also be used as a reflective sensor for dryer phones, towel or soap containers, automatic faucets, toilets, vending machine drop detection, and security doors and pet exits.

     The sensor module can receive the infrared pulse of the transmitter with a peak wavelength of 940 nm, the operating voltage is 2.5V ~ 5.5V, the supply current is as low as 0.7mA, and the carrier frequency is sensitive to 38 kHz. The device is insensitive to power supply voltage ripple noise and can shield EMI, and the daylight filter can inhibit visible light. Sensor modules comply with RoHS and Vishay green standards and are halogen-free.
