Vishay has announced the introduction of a new automotive grade IHLP® thin, high-current 4040 form-factor inductor, the IHLP-4040ED-5A, with an increased height of 5.4 mm. The Vishay Dale IHLP-4040ED-5A inductor reduces DCR, increases current handling capacity, and increases inductance for continuous operation at +155 C, making it suitable for use in automotive engine cabin environments.
The device is AEC-Q200 compliant with typical DCR from 1.05 mΩ to 204.0 mΩ and inductance values from 0.33 µH to 75.0 µH. The device has a rated current of 36.0A and can handle high transient current spikes without saturation.
The IHLP-4040ED-5A is suitable for DC/DC converters with energy storage frequencies up to 2MHz. At the same time, this series of inductors has excellent noise attenuation performance in high current filtering applications in the self-resonant frequency (SRF) range. Devices operate at high temperatures for automotive engine and transmission control units, fuel injection drives, entertainment/navigation systems, as well as engine noise suppression, wipers, electric mirrors and seats, HID and LED lighting, filtering of heating ventilation fans, and DC/DC conversion.
The inductor package features a 100% lead-free (Pb) shielded composite structure that reduces noise to extremely low levels and provides extremely high resistance to thermal shock, moisture and mechanical vibration. IHLP-4040ED-5A is RoHS compliant, halogen-free and Vishay Green compliant.
