Vishay introduces new high-precision, low-cost, corrosion-resistant battery bypass resistors in an ultra-small form factor

     Vishay introduces the 5216 compact form factors of the new WSBS5216 and WSBS5216... 14 12 W Power Metal Strip® Power metal strip battery bypass resistor. The Vishay Dale AEC-Q200 certified device has an extremely low resistance of only 100 µΩ, which is more accurate and less costly than the Hall effect galvanometer solution, and the WSBS5216... 14 Optional tinned terminals facilitate PCB welding and improve corrosion resistance.

     The device uses unique machining technology to achieve extremely low resistance values. This low resistance value enables more precise measurements to determine battery charging and discharging, helping designers meet the battery management needs of specific customers for gasoline, diesel, hybrid and electric cars and trucks, as well as electric forklifts, UPS systems and other heavy-duty industrial applications.

     WSBS5216 and WSBS5216... 14 Using a low TCR (± 20 ppm/°C) solid metal manganese copper resistance core, the terminal and the resistance core are welded to detect continuous current up to 346A. The resistance self-induction is less than 5nH, the thermoelectric motive force (EMF) is less than 1 µV/°C, and the operating temperature is -65 °C to +170 °C. Devices comply with RoHS and Vishay green standards and are halogen-free.
