Vishay introduces new microBUCK regulators to improve power density and transient response

Vishay Intertechnology expands its microBUCK synchronous step-down regulators with new 15 A, 25 A and 40 A series devices, the SiC45x series, in a thermally enhanced 5 mm x 7 mm PowerPAK MLP34-57 package. The input voltage is 4.5V to 20V. The Vishay Siliconix SiC45x series regulators comply with PMBus 1.3 power system management standards and are superior in power density and transient response to previous regulators.

     Vishay Intertechnology expands its microBUCK synchronous step-down regulators with new 15 A, 25 A and 40 A series devices, the SiC45x series, in a thermally enhanced 5 mm x 7 mm PowerPAK MLP34-57 package. The input voltage is 4.5V to 20V. The Vishay Siliconix SiC45x series regulators comply with PMBus 1.3 power system management standards and are superior in power density and transient response to previous regulators.

 

     The device contains a high-performance N-channel channel MOSFET and PWM controller in a small package for increased power density. Low static operating current, peak efficiency of 98%, reduce power loss. This integrated device helps simplify the design of high-performance point-of-load (POL) converters and reduces the number of external components configured with loop compensation.

 

     The SiC45x series regulators feature internal compensation over the entire VIN and VOUT operating voltage range. The device has a high configuration capability, a wide input voltage range, and an adjustable output voltage in the range of 0.3V ~ 12V. Regulators are versatile and suitable for a variety of applications, including cloud computing, POL converters for enterprise servers and industrial computers, as well as networking, communications and storage systems.

 

     All SiC45x series devices are space-occupying compatible, allowing designers to scale their solutions to optimize cost performance while speeding up design. The regulator switch frequency can be adjusted in the range of 300 kHz~1.5 MHz, with three operating modes of forced continuous operation, energy saving or ultrasonic.

 

     The voltage regulator Constant on-time (COT) architecture has ultra-fast transient response and requires only a small output capacitance, allowing for strict ripple regulation over a wide load range. At the same time, the regulator can maintain loop stability regardless of the type of output capacitor used. The device integrates a variety of reliable protection monitoring features for stable operation, including output overvoltage and undervoltage protection (OVP/UVP), pulse-by-pulse overcurrent protection (OCP), differential remote output detection, and hysteresis overheat protection (OTP).
