Vishay introduces solid moulded chip tantalum capacitors to enhance the performance of electronic detonation systems

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the introduction of a new series of TANTAMOUNT surface mount solid moulded chip tantalum capacitors, the TX3, designed for electronic detonation systems. The Vishay Sprague TX3 series devices have a strong mechanical structure, low leakage current (DCL), strict test specifications, and superior performance and reliability to commercial tantalum capacitors and MLCCS.

     Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the introduction of a new series of TANTAMOUNT surface mount solid moulded chip tantalum capacitors, the TX3, designed for electronic detonation systems. The Vishay Sprague TX3 series devices have a strong mechanical structure, low leakage current (DCL), strict test specifications, and superior performance and reliability to commercial tantalum capacitors and MLCCS.

 

     The recently released capacitor DCL is only 0.005CV, compared to other capacitor technologies, tantalum capacitors have a high energy density, can provide higher energy to ensure the correct initiation, is ideal for mining and demolition applications remote detonation systems, meet the requirements of reliable discharge. The device's tantalum anode technology is combined with Vishay's industry-leading media molding technology to ensure stable electrical performance in harsh environments.

 

     To ensure reliability, the TX3 series capacitors are tested to stricter specifications than standard commercial devices. Each product is tested for 100% surge current using a standard screening method, with secondary additional screening for critical electrical characteristics to eliminate batch-to-batch errors. To provide a reliable solution, the device core and lead frame are packaged in hard plastic resin. Compared to MLCC, the capacitors comply with the MIL-STD-202 test standard and have higher shock resistance (100 g) and shock resistance (20 g).

 

     The TX3 series devices are available in B (EIA 3528-21) and C (EIA 6032-28) packages with tolerances ranging from 10 µF to 100 µF, rated voltages from 16 V to 25 V, and tolerances as low as 10%. At +25 C, the ESR ranges from 0.700 to 2.3, the ripple current is 0.438 A, and the operating temperature is up to +125 C. TX3 series devices use lead-free (Pb) terminals, comply with RoHS and Vishay green standards, and are halogen-free.
