Vishay introduces the new FRED Pt 5th Generation 1200V Hyperfast and Ultrafast recovery rectifiers to reduce on-off and switching losses

Vishay Intertechnology has announced the launch of six new FRED Pt® 5th generation 1200V Hyperfast and Ultrafast recovery rectifiers. Vishay 30 A and 60 A rectifiers deliver best-in-class on-off and switching losses, improving the efficiency of high frequency inverters and soft and hard switches or resonant circuits.

     Vishay Intertechnology today announced the launch of six new FRED Pt® 5th generation 1200V Hyperfast and Ultrafast recovery rectifiers. Vishay 30 A and 60 A rectifiers deliver best-in-class on-off and switching losses, improving the efficiency of high frequency inverters and soft and hard switches or resonant circuits.

 

     The device can be used with MOSFETs or high-speed IGBTs and is specifically designed to improve the efficiency of PFC, EV/HEV battery charging station output rectifier stage, solar inverter booster stage, UPS and welder applications. Compared with similar silicon wafer solutions, the rectifier loss is reduced by 10%, and the energy efficiency gap with SiC diodes is reduced by half than before, making it a cost-effective alternative for applications within the frequency range of 50KHz.

 

     The 30A and 60A rectifiers are packaged in TO-247L, with Type X being the Hyperfast recovery rectifier and Type H being the Ultrafast recovery rectifier. The 30A device is also available in TO-220AC packages. X-type rectifiers have the advantage of low QRR, while H-type rectifiers have the advantage of lower forward voltage. The forward voltage drop of both rectifiers is the same as that of similar solutions, and the switching loss and QRR are reduced by 40% respectively. The new device operates at a junction temperature of +175 °C.
