Vishay introduces thick film power resistors

Vishay Intertechnology has announced the availability of a new AEC-Q200 certified thick film power resistor, ISOA, in a small SOT-227 package that can be mounted directly on the radiator. Vishay MCB ISOA has high pulse processing capability, power dissipation up to 120 W at 85 C shell temperature, optional NTC thermistor for internal temperature monitoring, and pre-coated Phase change thermal interface material (PC-TIM) to improve mounting efficiency.

     Using an aluminum substrate instead of a sheet metal, the device can be used as a precharge, discharge, active discharge, or buffer resistor, reducing costs for automotive, industrial, avionics, defense, and space (AMS) applications. ISOA has the option to integrate AEC-Q200 certified, temperature-cycled NTC thermistors in the resistance package to simplify design and save board space, while PC-TIM is an option to increase manufacturing and mounting efficiency.

 

     The device's high power and energy dissipation simplify the design and reduce the required power of the device, thus reducing the cost. The resistor has high energy pulse processing capability (up to 110 J / 0.1 s) and has been tested through 3000 230 J / 670 ms and 5000 350 J / 1060 ms multi-pulse cycles, suitable for a variety of applications under high energy and repeated surge pulses. In addition, the device offers custom testing.

 

     ISOA resistance ranges from 0.47 Ω to 1 MΩ, tolerances are ± 5% and ± 10%, and TCRS are ± 100 ppm/K, ±150 ppm/K, and ± 300 ppm/K, respectively. The maximum operating voltage of the resistance is 1500 V, the operating temperature range is -55℃ to +150 ℃, and the dielectric strength is 4000 Vrms. The device is RoHS compliant, has an inductorless design and can include two different resistors.
