Vishay offers high force density, high resolution small touch feedback actuators for touch screens, simulators, and joysticks

     Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the launch of a new customizable touch feedback actuator -- IHPT-1411AF-AB0, which is suitable for commercial touch screens, joysticks and touch switch panels. Vishay customized electromagnetic IHPT-1411AF-AB0 is a small two-piece structure with mounting holes, which is convenient for installation and direct operation. It has high shock pulse and vibration capabilities, and can provide clear tactile feedback in noisy environments or any occasion where action mechanical response is required. The operating temperature of this touch feedback actuator can reach+105 ° C, which is ideal for harsh environments.

     IHPT-1411AF-AB0 is an electromagnetic device that can convert electric energy into mechanical pulse or vibration signal for touch operation, which varies with power and duty cycle of input voltage. The touch coil assembly generates a magnetic field under the excitation of DC voltage pulse to adsorb the installed moving magnetic core. After power failure, the customer provided spring assembly will return the magnetic core.

     The device is adjustable with a fast response time of less than 5 ms and can produce a variety of high resolution (HD) tactile effects. It is rated to operate at 12 V and up to 16 V. Typical end products include LCD displays used in industrial appliances, building and factory automation control systems, as well as electronic retail terminals (POS), medical monitoring, diagnostic and surgical equipment, handheld radios, game or analog controllers, and barcode scanners. Application areas also include rotary or joystick control devices, and touch switch and button control panels.

     The simple structure of the IHDT-1411AF-AB0 skeleton and core components allows designers to adjust the spring and housing layout, the housing is integrated with the display firmware, and no additional housing is required, thus making it superior in terms of low cost, low component height, and high force density compared to competing technologies.      The recently released device can drive 0.5 kg load to 6 g acceleration at 12 V and 5 ms pulse. Competing technologies can only drive 0.1kg to 0.2kg loads to achieve this level. The driving coil inductance is 1.8mH, the typical DC resistance (DCR) is 0.95W, and the insulation voltage between the coil and the core is 150 VDC. The new actuator meets RoHS and Vishay green standards, is halogen-free, and uses 100 % dip solder standard lead terminations.
