Volkswagen and NXP launch the world's largest vehicle collaboration technology

     NXP Semiconductors has announced that the life-saving RoadLINK V2X communication solution will be available as standard in the next generation of Volkswagen Golf models. The recently announced 8th-generation Golf is the first production vehicle in Europe to be equipped with V2X, and it greatly advances the deployment of the technology on European roads and in other parts of the world. The technology allows cars of different brands to communicate with each other, preventing accidents, without the need for cellular infrastructure.

     Dr. Johannes Neft, Head of Body Development for the Volkswagen Brand, said: "Road safety is at the heart of Volkswagen's commitment to its customers. As a large manufacturer, we aim to be a pioneering force in this field. The launch of V2X with transportation infrastructure providers and other vehicle manufacturers is an important milestone in this direction. "Volkswagen is offering this technology as a standard feature on this model at no additional cost to the user in order to accelerate the adoption of V2X technology in Europe."
