     Texas Instruments TPS3840 Series Nanopower High input voltage monitors. The TPS3840 device is a reset IC with a maximum operating voltage of 10 V and maintains very low static current under all operating conditions. The device combines extremely low power consumption, high accuracy, and low propagation delay to help extend battery life in a variety of low-power, industrial, and battery-powered applications.

     The TI TPS3840 voltage monitor uses a wide input voltage range of 1.5 V to 10 V to monitor 9 V rails or batteries without external components, and 24 V rails with external resistors. The device has a nanoscale static current (nano-Iq) with a typical value of 350 nA, which extends battery life for low-power applications and reduces power consumption when using external resistors. This IC consumes less than 1 µA of power and can be configured as a comparator (in a simple three-pin configuration) or as a Daisy chain universal power monitor to act as a sequence generator.

     With an extremely low startup delay, the device detects voltage failures before the rest of the system is powered on, providing maximum safety in dangerous startup failure conditions. In addition, its extremely low power-on reset (VPOR) prevents misalignment, premature starting or turning on the next device, and proper control of the transistor during power-on and power-off. Other features include typical 1% monitoring threshold accuracy, built-in anti-jamming protection for manual reset and VDD, built-in hysteresis, and low open leakage output leakage current.

     The TPS3840 voltage monitor comes in an industry-standard five-pin SOT-23 package with three output topology options: Open leak, Low active (TPS3840DL); Push-pull, low active (TPS3840PL) and push-pull, high active (TPS3840PH). The device is targeted for power management applications, including grid infrastructure such as circuit breakers, smart meters and other monitoring and protection devices, factory and building automation, electronic point-of-sale equipment, and portable and battery-powered systems.
