Vrm8.5 is compatible with 5-bit programmable synchronous step-down controller IC and triple ldo controller

     The IRU3013 controller IC is specifically designed for Intel Pentium IIIa microprocessor applications, as described in the VRM 8.5 specification. The IC provides a single chip solution for Vcore, 1.2V AGTL+, 1.8V and a third unsubmitted LDO controller, which can be used as either a 1.2V power good detector or a 1.5V AGP bus in applications requiring this voltage.

     The IRU3013 has a patented topology that, combined with some external components, (* Note: See Application current in Figure 3) will provide an on-board Vcore synchronous converter with an output current in excess of 30A while automatically providing the output voltage specified in the VRM 8.5 specification.

     The IRU3013 also has a lossless Power dissipation sense by using the RDS(ON) of a high side power mosFETs as the sensing resistor, a Power Good window comparator that switches its open collector output to a low level when the output is outside the ±10% window. Other features of the device are: undervoltage locking for 5V and 12V power supplies, externally programmable soft start capabilities, and the ability to program oscillator frequencies by connecting external capacitors.
