     STMicroelectronics' LPS33W waterproof MEMS pressure sensor combines chemical compatibility, stability and accuracy for a variety of applications such as fitness trackers, wearables, vacuum cleaners and general purpose industrial sensing. A cylindrical metal housing with a diameter of 3.3 mm x 2.9 mm.

 

     The LPS33W is coated with a viscous potting-sealant inside a cylindrical metal package, IPx8 grade waterproof and resistant to salt water, chlorine, bromine, detergents (hand sanitizers, shampoos, etc.), e-liquids and light industrial chemicals (n-pentane). The cover has high corrosion resistance and the cylindrical appearance is easy to use with O-rings in applications where a sealed housing is required.

 

     The unique nature of STMicroelectronics' unique potting-sealant formulation, combined with the sensor's built-in signal conditioning circuit ASIC, ensures a class-leading 0.008hPa RMS level of pressure noise for excellent measurement resolution. The sensitivity to reflow stress during assembly is also extremely low, the temperature drift is less than ±2hPa, and the normal accuracy is restored within 72 hours, which is more than twice the recovery speed of other sensors. In the operating temperature range of 0° C-65 °C, the temperature compensation accuracy is maintained within the range of ±3hPa.

 

     The LPS33W high performance mode operates at only 15µA, low power mode at 3µA, and off mode at 1µA, and the flexible power mode helps to maximize the life of battery-powered devices. The 128-bit high-capacity FIFO memory can store up to 40 time slots of 32-bit pressure and temperature data, minimizing intervention by the host microcontroller and helping to save even more power. Other built-in features include low-pass filters, digital interfaces I2C and SPI.
