Wurth introduces the WSEN-ISDS motion sensor

Wurth Electronics further expands its MEMS compact sensor product line with a 3-axis accelerometer and integrated gyroscope. WSEN-ISDS have a wide range of measurements and data rates to choose from, making them extremely versatile. The sensor outputs pre-calibrated and processed data for application-specific functions such as free fall, wake up, tap, activity, motion, tilt and direction detection for easy integration.

     Wurth Electronics further expands its MEMS compact sensor product line with a 3-axis accelerometer and integrated gyroscope. WSEN-ISDS have a wide range of measurements and data rates to choose from, making them extremely versatile. The sensor outputs pre-calibrated and processed data for application-specific functions such as free fall, wake up, tap, activity, motion, tilt and direction detection for easy integration. The sensor is 2.5 x 3.0 x 0.86mm in LGA packaging and provides digital I²C and SPI interfaces, as well as a FIFO buffer to store output data.

 

     The potential for applications of the WSEN-ISDS compact accelerometer and gyroscope is limitless: from positioning and navigation solutions, to automation, industrial equipment and machines, antenna and platform stabilization, to industrial Internet of Things devices, robotics and drones.

 

     Linear and angular acceleration measurements have been extended from single event recording to high frequency continuous vibration monitoring. Optional data rates are up to 1400 Hz for the accelerometer and 937 Hz for the gyroscope. Output data rate up to 6.66kHz. Module consumption current is 0.69mA in high power mode and 0.28mA in low power mode to capture a single pulse.

 

     Users can choose different measurement ranges according to the acceleration level detected by WSEN-ISDS. The linear acceleration range provided by Wurth Electronics is ±2 g, ±4 g, ±8 g, ±16 g, and the angular velocity variation range is ±250 dps, ±500 dps, ±1000 dps, ±2000 dps. The sensitivity accuracy is ± 3%.
