XP Power Introduces 1500W Programmable DC Power Supply

     XP Power officially announced the launch of the PLS1500 series of 1500W rated power, 1U height, 19-inch rack-mount programmable DC power supplies. This latest expansion complements the 600W PLS600 series for high power equipment in a variety of OEM, industrial and laboratory applications. Typical applications include components, automotive and aerospace test, medical, semiconductor manufacturing, broadcast and telecommunications.

     There are five modules in the PLS1500 series, which can provide DC output voltages of 30V, 50V, 100V, 200V and 400V, and all modules are rated at 1500W. Up to four modules can be connected in parallel (Master/Slave mode) for higher power (6kW) and up to two modules can be connected in series for higher voltage (up to 800V) and power.

     Digital rotary controls on the front panel allow easy adjustment of output voltage and current. Since the product is speed-sensitive, slow rotation enables adjustment accuracy of 0.1%. Built-in 12-bit D/A and A/D converters enable this product to measure voltage and current with similar accuracy. This feature saves the user additional cost and space on the measuring instrument.

     Behind the power supply are ports that allow remote control via USB, Ethernet and analog control inputs. The USB and Ethernet inputs are SCPI compliant and support LabVIEW™ and Interchangeable Virtual Instrument (IVI) drivers. The PLS1500 series is also LXI certified, meeting the interoperability standard for LAN-based instruments.

     This product includes remote sensing, allowing use with loads away from the equipment. To avoid any damage to the product under test (UUT), the product has built-in Over Voltage Protection (OVP), Over Current Protection (OCP) and Over Power Protection (OPP) to limit the output current and voltage.

     All modules of the PLS1500 series are safety certified according to IEC 60950-1 and IEC 62368-1 (EN/UL/CSA). This product is CE marked, complies with the EMC Directive 89/336/EEC that Class A products need to meet, and complies with the Canadian ICES-001 standard.
